The Sustainability Day of Action

The annual Sustainability Day of Action celebrates the importance of sustainable development in our national health care system. This day illustrates and promotes sustainability across all 223 NHS Trusts through a variety of platforms where the sharing of ideas and collaboration aims to inspire and provide insight.

Last year we provided three webinars on our Day of Action covering: Greener Transport, Sustainable Nutrition and Green Energy.

This year we are bringing you TWO live Webinars!!

Part One, 11am - The Sustainability Challenges Faced in the NHS

It has been found that the NHS is responsible for an estimated 5% of the UK’s carbon footprint. And with 900 fatalities due to soaring temperatures in 2019 and 18million patients visiting GP practices due to high air pollution levels, NHS leaders knew something had to be done, so it became the world’s first national health system to make net zero commitments and develop clear deliverables and milestones.

Whilst the NHS may have clearly set out goals and objectives to meet these net-zero requirements, there are many blockers to them delivering the greener healthcare system we dream of.

For the first event on our Day of Action, we have invited NHS professionals from a multitude of departments to speak about their sustainability journeys and the challenges they have faced and overcome. Get your FREE Tickets HERE

Part Two, 3pm - Cutting Edge Green Solutions

The NHS is the world’s first national health system to make net zero commitments driven by clear milestones. But challenges are often faced in reaching these goals. The many challenges and blockers faced in building a greener future for our NHS seem to be met by an equally growing market of cutting-edge green solutions in relation to healthcare. From wearable medical technology to help facilitate remote appointments to green energy solutions, it is exciting to see this particular market growing at such pace.

For our second event on our Day of Action, we will look to respond to the issues raised within the NHS and our first webinar by inviting industry professionals to offer guidance as well as speak about new, innovative products and services available to help combat issues in NHS sustainability.
