The Sustainability Day of Action: Delivering a Net-Zero NHS

We are now experiencing more intense weather, flash flooding, droughts, heatwaves and the spread of disease all as a result of climate change. This is now starting to have an impact on population health and increasing pressures on our National Health Service.

The NHS’ action on climate change will affect this, and it will also bring direct improvements for public health and health equity.

The NHS has made its aim to become the world’s first net-zero national health service. This action on climate change will bring direct improvements to public health and health equity.

In order to meet this goal two targets have been set:

  1. For the emissions we control directly (the NHS Carbon Footprint), we will reach net zero by 2040, with an ambition to reach an 80% reduction by 2028 to 2032

  2. For the emissions we can influence (our NHS Carbon Footprint Plus), we will reach net zero by 2045, with an ambition to reach an 80% reduction by 2036 to 2039.

These targets can only be achieved through implementing new technologies, processes and services while also educating NHS employees, patients, local governments, and the wider public.

To celebrate the Sustainability Day of Action and to assist in delivering a Net-Zero NHS, we are providing a free one-hour webinar with a range of industry speakers that will delve into the new technologies, services, and processes that are available to reduce your scope 1,2,3 and 4 emissions.

Together, we can achieve this ambition by working collaboratively, sharing knowledge and educating!
